The Valley Labor Report knocks the ball out of the park most days. This report on the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) sets some context for the union's convention being held in Boston this week and should interest all of us---we all get mail, so we are all connected to a letter carrier and to the Post Office. The United States Postal Service is a vital public service that needs to be defended and improved. Please join this fight here. Some convention coverage can be found here.
I have lately been putting out a cooler with cold drinks and snacks for the carrier who delivers my mail. I have some notes there telling the carrier that we love the NALC and we love them.
I am a strong supporter of American Postal Workers Union President Mark Dimondstein. See here and here. I mention this in order to make the point that its possible to build progressive union leadership among postal workers.
This is a blog about building labor and community solidarity in Oregon's Mid-Willamette Valley and beyond. The opinions expressed in this blog are those of the authors only unless otherwise noted.
